Information About Tolo
Tolo, orginally a small fishing village has grown into a successful tourist resort while retaining its traditional Greek charm.
The main road of the village runs along the coastline around the bay from the sandy beach to the harbour and it is lined with shops, cafes and tavernas. This is where Pitsakis Hotel is located, just a few steps from the beautful sandy beach. The shops cater to locals and visitors needs and include bakers, butchers, supermarkets, pharmacies, bars, cafes and restaurants. There are also two local doctors in the village and a post office.
The sea in Tolo is clear, clean and warm and the gradient from shallow is very gentle therefore making it ideal for small children and the not so strong swimmer.
Tolo beach itself is well organised with sunbeds and umbrellas for sun lovers and families and there is a variety of water sports such as windsurfing, sailing, scuba diving, motor boat rental, pedaloes, canoes and more. In most cases there is also tuition available for beginners.
Tolo is ideally situated to use as a base from which to visit the many archaelogical sites of the Peloponnese either by car or guided excursion, please see our Sightseeing page for more information. Enjoy a relaxing day trip on one of the one-day cruises which leave from the harbour to the islands of Hydra & Spetses or maybe a barbeque cruise. There are many activities to fill up the day for those guests that are not content lazing on the beach, chekc out our Activities page for more info on those.
Getting around from Tolo is easy. There is a local bus that goes to and from Nafplion regularly throughout the day and there are taxis to take you wherever you would like to go. Car hire is a great idea to explore the area to its full although if you are looking for the perfect beach accommodation Pitsakis Hotel is great as it is right opposite the beach!
